Mesa Historical Museum

The Mesa Historical Museum was founded in the 1940s and incorporated in 1966 by citizens concerned about preserving Mesa's rich history. The former Mesa City Hall was the museum's original location in the city center, and the Arizona Museum of Natural History is now here. The Arizona Museum of Natural History focuses on the region's natural history, including archaeology and paleontology, while the Mesa Historical Museum explores and preserves regional heritage, as the names suggest. The Old Lehi School is where the Mesa Historical Museum is based. Numerous long periods of enhancements were made. Officials at the school, which was supposed to be demolished, discovered that it would be more expensive to rebuild on the site than to tear down the school buildings because of the auditorium's sturdy construction. In 1986, the area was purchased by the City of Mesa and resold to the Mesa Historical Museum. As the museum strives to tell the story of Mesa and the valley, it has made improvements and changes.

Teacher Aid is Arrested in Mesa, AZ

The Mesa police said that a 28-year-old teacher's assistant suspected of sexually abusing a 9-year-old student was arrested. Police said in a news release that the victim told school staff at Lehi Elementary earlier this week that Antonio Jordan had touched them "inappropriately" and that the teacher may have recorded it on his phone. On Tuesday, Mesa police responded to investigate the report. As per the news release, police talked with Jordan on Wednesday, who told examiners he had a "stethoscope fixation" and picked the casualty due to the casualty's advantage in a stethoscope he brought to class. Jordan admitted in court documents that he had inappropriately touched the victim by sticking his hand up the victim's shirt. Jordan also admitted to using his phone to record the abuse. After a school administrator contacted him to inform him that he was being placed on administrative suspension, he explained to officers that he had deleted the video. Read more.
